Chinese Students

We had the privilege of hosting 2 students from China who were here visiting William and Mary for the week, and then going on to other cities for the period of a month. They were staying in dorms and their staff found out that they were going to be kicked out a week earlier than expected for other students. The person in charge is good friends with our Bishop and asked if there were any families interested in hosting that were members of our church. These 24 students really wanted to experience what life was like in an American home with family and religion (they came to church with us too). I almost didn't do it because Carson is working during the week in PA, but they got desperate for people and we have 3 empty rooms (one being a master bedroom) so I gave in. I am SO glad I did.

Missa and Julia (those are there American names) have changed our lives. They are so sweet and smart. They helped us realize/remember what a blessing it is to live in the USA. They were so great with Carlee (they just left yesterday and she is sad and already missing them so much). I know we will stay friends with them forever and hope that someday they come back to visit.

One of the students decided to get baptized after going to church and meeting with the missionaries a couple of times (in the one week period). The mission president got permission from the Quorum of the 70 and we all attended. It was AMAZING!

They asked what Carson liked to do (because he didn't play basketball with the boys one night) and he said, "Fish, hunt, dirt bike, etc" They then asked if he had guns. When he said that he did they wanted to see them and touch them, etc. It was funny!

Striking a pose!
